Mrs Wm Armstrong
A highly respected of Ramsay, Mrs William Armstrong. passed away at her home on the 10th line on Monday, August 31st, at the age of 82 years. About two years ago she suffered a stroke and since that time her health had been seriously impaired. Mrs Armstrong's maiden name was Elizabeth McCann, second daughter of the late James McCann and Mary Kemp, and all her life was spent in this community, where she was beloved by all. Fifty-four years ago she was married to William Armstrong who survives. To this union were born four daughters and one son, three of whom survive, namely, Mary, Mrs Wesley McCann, Pakenham; Jessie at home, William James of Brockville. Two daughters Margaret, Mrs Andrew Kirk and Rebecca, Mrs Andrew McPhail predeceased her. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs W. Allison, Winnipeg, Man. Prior to church union Mrs Armstrong was a Presbyterian and since that time she was a member of the United Church at Blakeney. The funeral which was largely attended was held on Wednesday, Sept 2nd at 2.30 p.m. from the family residence, Rev G.D. Empy, officiating. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs Robert McPhail, William Smithson, William Voyce, Peter McDougall, Gordon Sadler and Edward Armstrong.
