"Beloved of God"
ASHEVILLE - Marion Kay Martin ("Miss Marion"), 66, of Stone Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center, went home to be with her Lord Jesus, Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Mission Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Meadville, PA, Marion was the daughter of the late William John Martin III and the late Jean Eleanor Hall Martin. Her parents moved to Broward County, FL when she was 4 months old. She resided there for 18 years. After that, Marion lived near Charleston, SC and in Nashville, TN for several years. She then moved to Haywood County, NC where she resided for over 35 years.
Marion is survived by three sisters: Amy Barnard of Clyde, NC; Lori Carnes of Indian Land, SC; and Jeannie Sutton of Rock Hill, SC; and one brother, William John Martin IV of Radford, VA.
Marion was preceded in death by one son, Jesse Martin, of Waynesville, NC. She is survived by one son, Jonathan Martin, of Waynesville, NC; and one daughter, Heather Driscoll, of Port Saint Lucie, FL; 9 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
She loved helping people. She was a "Resident Volunteer" at Stone Creek. Marion had a "green thumb" and loved taking care of her plants and flowers. She also cared for the plants and flowers at Stone Creek.
Marion enjoyed playing Bingo, doing word searches, crafts (especially making tie-dye shirts), getting her nails done (polish and all), and listening to her praise music.
Marion will be dearly missed.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 16, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Masks will be optional.
