Betty M. Schrader, 86, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at her son's home in Osage City

Betty Mae Speakman was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 5, 1935 to Luther Merle and Helen Lucille (Pantzer) Speakman.

She was raised from the age of 3 years old by her maternal grandmother, Hattie Pantzer, in Burlington, Colorado until the age of 13. She then lived with her mother and the man she knew as Daddy, Charles Evans, in Goodland, Ks.

Betty met Wayne Dale Schrader, of Osage, Kansas, on a blind date in Brewster, KS. They married and to that life-long union they raised six children.

Betty and Wayne lived in Spokane, Washington and Chicago, Illinois while Wayne was an Air Force mechanic. They settled in Osage City in 1966. Betty worked for Hallmark Cards for many years and had many life-long friends. Her retirement years were spent with Wayne and after his passing she lived with her son, Ed.

Betty is survived by daughters ; a son, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great grandchild. She was also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and very loving companion, Pepe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, Sr. and three children Pennie, Wayne, Jr., and Vickie.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, in Osage City. Burial to follow at Osage City Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, June 25, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
