Sally was born September 10, 1927, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Arthur David and Sally (Milner) Martin. Sally married Gene C. Steele, Sr. on February 16, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas; they were blessed with almost 73 wonderful years together, prior to his death on January 28, 2015.
She spent her life raising their four children, taking care of their home, and working with Gene in his upholstery business. Sally was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved nothing more than having her home filled with family, not only on holidays but anytime.
Sally had two chihuahuas, Precious and Sissy, whom she loved dearly. She also loved to cook, sew, and eat Butter Pecan ice cream (every night). In earlier years, she and Gene enjoyed traveling to Blue Grass concerts together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Steele, Sr.; son, Gene Steele, Jr.; sister, Gladys Tuggle; and brothers, Coy and Earl Martin.
Survivors included her children, Jeanette Hykel, of Groesbeck, Clifton R. Steele, of Groesbeck, and Rocky Steele, of Ennis; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. B5
