Danny, of Groves, passed away Friday at Harbor Hospice.

He grew up in Dardanelle and Hot Springs, Arkansas. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Iowa. After the end of the war, he returned to Arkansas to earn a B.A. in Biology from Hendrix College in Conway,AR. Duty to his country called him back to the Navy in 1951 where he served during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in l952, Dan attended the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock and earned a B.S. in Medical Technology.

He and Audrey May McKisson were married Friday, August l3, l954 in the chapel at Hendrix College by her father, Reverend Theron Thomas McKisson. They eventually made their home in West Helena. Dan became the Chief Medical Technologist at Helena Hospital where their two sons were born.

Dan and Audrey moved their family to Southeast Texas in 1962 where Dan worked in the petrochemical industry as a chemist, first at Goodrich Gulf and then at Texaco, Port Arthur where he worked for twenty seven years and retired as Senior Project Chemist in l992.

Dan was Master Counselor for the State of Arkansas in the Order of DeMolay, was very active in the First United Methodist Church of Groves, and then the First Christian Church of Port Arthur, where he served as Chairman of the Elders.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel Thomas Daniel and Rachel Julia Stilley, and grandson, Brian Christopher Daniel.

Survivors include his wife of fifty three years, Audrey May McKisson Daniel; his sons, Theron Mark Daniel, Brian Keith Daniel and his wife, Patty Martin Daniel; daughter, Laura Lynn Daniel May and her husband, Kent May; six grandchildren; sister, Barbara Annette Daniel Steiner; nieces, Rachel Anne Steiner Coyote and her husband, Skye Coyote, and Rebecca Sue Steiner Kane and her husband, Mike Kane.
