ASSARIA — Edward Oscar Mattson, 76, died Sunday night at Asbury Hospital.
He was born Oct. 18, 1879, at Monmouth, Ill., and lived in the Assaria community nearly 40 years. He was a meatcutter at the Assaria grocery store for the past 20 years. Previously he farmed near Assaria.
He is survived by the widow, Essie, whom he married May 28, 1908, at McPherson; three children, Mrs. Leona Lindfors, Assaria; Edris Mattons, 942 Highland, Salina, Darlene Mattson, Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Alfred, Salina; Phillip, Assaria, and Lawrence, Lindsborg; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Rupert, Tipton, and Mrs. Lillie Johnson, Assaria, and one grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 pm Wednesday at the Danielson-Johnson Funeral Home in Lindsborg and at 2:30 pm from the Assaria Lutheran Church, the Rev. Emory Pokrant officiating. Burial will be in Assaria cemetery.
The body will be at the Danielson-Johnson Funeral home from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday.
