Greenfield MO newspaper, 26 Sept. 1935:
John B. Fruin, 81, former citizen of Greenfield (MO), died on Sept. 13th (1935) at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maggie Games, in Centralia, Washington. Mr. Fruin was a native of New York, came to Greenfield (MO) as a boy in 1868, married Miss Hattie Baldwin of this city and made the family home on a farm north of the city until about 1902, when the family moved to Oregon.
Gus Fruin, Fred and Bert Morrison, Mrs. Marshall (Ella) Courtney, Mrs. Wes (Laura O.) Dodd, Mrs. Berry Killingsworth, and Mrs. Mike Maberry, all of this city, are nephews and nieces of Mr. Fruin, and he leaves behind many other relatives and old friends in Dade County who regret his passing.
Tacoma, Wash.--John Baldwin Fruin was born at Port Leyden, New York, Jan. 4 1854, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maggie Games, of Centralia, Washington, Sept. 13, 1935, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 9 days.
He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Maggie Games and Mrs. Esther Gibbons; also eleven grandchildren, Mrs. Alice Elliot; Mrs. Thelma Harrison; Mrs. Carl Smith; Robert, Leslie, George, Cora Lee, and Harold Games; and John Fruin and Leslie Fruin, sons of the late John Fruin, Jr., of Yamhill, Oregon.
Funeral services were held in Central, Washington, Monday, Sept. 16. Interment was in Dryad, Wash., where Mrs. Fruin and their son Leslie were laid to rest several years ago.
