Lester John Smith, Jr., 83, of Bayonne, New Jersey passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Lester was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1938 before moving to Bayonne, NJ in 1971, he most recently resided in Brick, NJ.

Mr. Smith retired in 1996 from Garfield Williamson after 42 years of employment. He proudly served our country with the US Army National Guard and Army Reserves from 1958-1964.

He is preceded by his parents Lester Sr and Marie; his sisters, Constance Smith and Linda Tripodi.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lucille; his daughter, Sandra Antognoli and her husband, Geno; his son, David Smith and his wife, Michelle; his grandchildren, Geno, Nicholas, Abigail, Jacob and Owen. He will be missed by his sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, Brick. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. William the Abbot, Howell followed by the interment at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
