Joshua David Carter was born on New Year's Day, January 1, 2003 to parents Jimmy Dean and Christina Lynn Carter in Duncan, Oklahoma. Joshua was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome, which presented many challenges in his life, but Joshua overcame these challenges throughout his life again and again. Joshua began school in 2008 at the Horace Mann Elementary School in Woodward, Oklahoma, and attended until 2012. In 2013, Joshua moved with his family to Ponca City, Oklahoma and he continued his elementary education at the Roosevelt Elementary School in Ponca City. He went on to attend West Middle School from 2014 to 2016. Joshua began his high school education at the Ponca City High School in 2016 until 2019. From 2019 until his graduation in 2021, Joshua attended John Marshall High School. On June 24, 2021, Joshua passed from this life in Oklahoma City at the age of 18.

Joshua enjoyed all sorts of hobbies, which included building models, solving puzzles, and playing video games. He liked science and zoology and was a member of the planetary society. He was an avid fan of comics, anime, movies, and especially Scooby-Doo. Joshua earned several awards in his time at school, including a SOAR nomination, making 7th, 8th, and 9th grade honor roll, the President's Education Award in 2017, a position in the Oklahoma State Citation of Achievement in Reading as a Junior Senator, a Recognition of Scientific Excellence in 2011, Best Sense of Humor in 2010 and 2011, Musical Excellence Awards in 2009 and 2010, a Sportsmanship Excellence Award in 2010, and Recognition for Being a Good Friend in 2009. In 2017, Joshua graduated from the RISE program, and in 2021, he graduated John Marshall High School with a 3.7 GPA.

Joshua is preceded in death by his grandpa, David Jefferson Janow, Jr.

Joshua is survived by his mother Christina Carter of the home; father Jimmy Carter of Marlow, Oklahoma; brother Andrew Michael Carter of the home; brother Samuel Dean Carter of Blackwell, Oklahoma; 2 aunts, 2 uncles, 1 niece, 1 nephew, and a host of loved ones and friends.
