Wife of Arthur J. Carney

Veta Fannell Carney, 89, of Sour Lake, passed away on June 30, 2014, at her home. She was born on September 27, 1924, in Sour Lake, to Mathilda Moore Lounsberry and Charles W. Lounsberry. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in various capacities for twenty-five years. Mrs. Carney was a member of First Christian Church in Sour Lake.

Survivors include her sons, Jerry Glenn Carney and his wife, Linda, of Powell, and Bobby L. Carney and his wife, Dewilyn, of Kerens; daughter, Jewell Fannell Vaughn and her husband, Eddie, of Humble; sister, Verlee Whittington of Sour Lake; Beverly Ann Backes of Powell; and Charlene Taylor of Grayburg; grandchildren, Bobby Glenn Carney and his wife, Dede; Brian Carney and his wife, Alicia; Shannon Adams and her husband, Mike, Brent Carney and his wife, Emily; Brady Carney; Robert Earl Vaughn and his wife, Kayleigh; great-grandchildren, Madison Carney, Gracin McCollum, Emily Carney, Truett McCollum, Garrett Carney, Parker Adams, Grayson Adams, Caden Carney, and Caden and Camden Adams. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Arthur J. Carney, and several siblings.

A gathering of Mrs. Carney family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Broussard's, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
