Marysville - Gary Louis Way, 79 of Marysville passed away June 20, 2021 in Everett. He was born August 23, 1941 to Seth and Bertha Way in Everett, WA. Gary graduated from Anacortes High School, Eastern Washington University and The Oregon College of Education where he received his Master's Degree. Gary worked for the State of Alaska in Health Education and finished his career as an owner in Property Management.

He married Louise Alexander on Nov. 19, 1988 in Tacoma, WA. Gary was a member of the Knights of Columbus, on the Marysville Planning Commission and a volunteer at the YMCA where he taught aqua aerobics. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, driftwood sculpture, and antique outboard engines. He was a big man with a big heart and sense of humor. Gary ran for mayor of Marysville. He won the primary by two votes and lost the election by 101 votes.

Gary and Louise enjoyed vacations at their home on Douglas Island near Juneau, Alaska.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha (Reinell) Way; father, Seth Way; and brother Ed Way. Gary is survived by his wife Louise Alexander-Way; sister-in-law, Gloria Way; niece Jenny Way; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Sanford and family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 3 - 8 pm at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. A recitation of the Rosary will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 9:45 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Marysville Cemetery. If you need a chair for the graveside please bring your own.
