Funeral service for Mr. Robert Howard Willingham, 88, of Gaylesville, will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Terry York will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Willingham died on Friday, June 25, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Willingham is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Thomas Willingham and Pearl Gertrude Hilton; his first wife and the mother of his children, Sylvia JoyAnn Willingham; his son, Michael Willingham; two grandchildren, Christopher Lynn Willingham and Amanda Lois Willingham; three sisters; and six brothers.
Left to cherish the memory of Mr. Willingham are his children, Phyllis (Michael) Russell, Kenneth Ray (Lisa) Willingham, and Dennis Hazel (Dale Waldrop); 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Nellie Haynes; three brothers, Cecil (Joyce) Willingham, Bryant Willingham, and David (Carol) Willingham; numerous nieces and nephews; and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Willingham.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
Mr. Willingham was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music and listening to preaching on his radio. In his spare time, he could be found playing music with his children, which was his favorite hobby. He was incredibly talented on the guitar and especially loved country music. Mr. Willingham was an avid Alabama fan, loved drinking milkshakes and eating delicious desserts, and spending time with his family. One of his favorite things to do was attending family reunions and keeping the legacy of his family alive.
