PENNINGTON, WELL-KNOW AREA MUSICIAN, DIES
November 6, 1977

Buddy Pennington, one of the area's most well-known musicians, died early Sunday in a Charlottesville, Va., hospital following a long illness.
He suffered two heart attacks and a stroke within the last six months. Due to his various ailments he had been unable to speak.
A benefit honoring the musician is still going to be held at the Brushfork National Guard Armory on November 13.
Spokesmen said that Mel Street, who is scheduled to headline the benefit is still planning to attend the event honoring Pennington.
Pennington had worked with Bill Monroe in Nashville, Tn., a bluegrass originator; Mel Street from the beginning of is career in Bluefield until he moved to Nashville; and the Swing Kings.
