The youngest of four children, he was born October 13, 1940, in Olmsted, Illinois to the late Lauden Hurst and Evangeline Augustus (Adams) Sheffer.
He was a proud member of the I.U.O.E Local 318 for over 55 years. Donnie was a heavy equipment operator; and a member of Caledonia Church.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson, Jaxen Charles Sheffer; brothers-in-law, George Taylor and Kevin Williams; and nephews, Michael Anderson and Dennis Taylor.
Funeral services for Donnie Sheffer will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted, Illinois.
