Delmer "Del" Arvel Ammons Jr. 61, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his residence in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held for him at 3:00 p.m. On Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Zwolle United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Phillip North officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the memorial service for family and friends to gather from 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. until time of service.

He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on Saturday, June 27,1959, to Delmer Arvel Ammons, Sr. and Charlene (Self) Ammons. After Del finished school he followed in his father's footsteps and worked alongside him in the construction business. He went onto build several major buildings in Central Louisiana including the Natchitoches Trade School, Mariners Restaurant, several apartment complexes in and around Sabine Parish and the First Baptist Church of Mansfield. Then he went on to work in the oilfield industry; ultimately, he came back to his roots as a construction worker where his career was unfortunately cut short due to an injury at Austin Power Plant.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Delmer and Charlene (Self) Ammons and his nephew Kyle Montgomery. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, JoAnna (Taylor) Ammons of Pleasant Hill, LA; his son, Christopher Del Ammons, Sr. & wife, Geri of Many, LA; his daughter, Lacy Cheyenne Barker & husband, Jeffery of Many, LA; his sisters, Shonnie Montgomery of Winnfield, LA and Nelda Hicks & husband, Sherald of Many, LA; and his brother, Kevin Ammons & wife, Jeannine of Shreveport, LA. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Megan Ammons, Christopher Del Ammons II, Cadence Jackson, Cheyleigh Jackson, Macy Barker, Hunter Barker, Colten Barker, and Farah Barker. In addition, he also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
