NEOLA - Laura Jean (Brockmeyer) Martin, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home on May 27, 2021 after a long illness. She was born April 4, 1951 to Leroy and Phyllis Brockmeyer in Oelwein.
Laura graduated from Oelwein Community High School, then attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo and became a certified laboratory technician. Laura worked at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines after graduation. She married Michael T. Martin on Feb. 14, 1977 at Sacred Heart Church in Oelwein. After their marriage, Laura and Mike settled in Council Bluffs, where she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Council Bluffs and Creighton University Medical Center Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. They then lived in Neola, Iowa.
Laura loved her family and traveling. Her pets were like her children. Laura loved Dobie, Jet, Black Jack, Country, and Prince dearly.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Leroy; one brother, Steven Brockmeyer; and two nephews, Michael Ryan and Damien Steil.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; brother, Robert Steil from Oelwein; sister, Lynn (Thomas) Brockmeyer Ryan; sister, Lorrainne "Anne" (Mike) Barker; brother, Roy (Connie) Brockmeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
