Donna Shamblin Melton

Donna Gay Shamblin Melton, loving wife, mother and friend, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. Donna was born in Afton, Oklahoma and grew up with three brothers. She found her way to Houston, Texas where she met, and married, Elbert Melton on December 15, 1960. Donna was a hard worker and spent many years as a manager with Spring Branch ISD Child Nutrition Services. She loved working with the children and spending time with her coworkers who became friends. Donna enjoyed following the Houston sports teams, was passionate about her gardening and was always up for an adventure. She loved the beach and enjoyed many Galveston family vacations over the years. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity as well as her great sense of humor – she loved to laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray Alonzo Shamblin and Erma Maxine Barnes Shamblin; three siblings – Johnny Shamblin, Jimmy Shamblin and Danny Shamblin. She is survived by husband, Elbert Melton; daughters Terri Melton and Cindy Allen; and her grand-dog Katie. Donna will also be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors, and dear friends.
