Tamara "Tammy" Ann (Dunlevy) Green, age 72, of Franklin passed away on May 5, 2021. She was born on February 24, 1949, in Lafayette to her beloved parents, Ralph and Alta (Howser) Dunlevy. Tammy and her sister, Melinda, were raised in Hanover, Indiana, until the family moved to New Jersey when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Chatham Township High School in 1967. She would return to her cherished Hanover to attend Hanover College, where she met the love of her life on orientation day, James Roy (Jim, J.R.) Green. She and Jim continued to date throughout college and were married on April 24, 1971. Tammy graduated from Hanover College in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and completed her Masters of Education from IUPUI in 1976. Jim and Tammy welcomed their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, into this world in 1982, and she was a proud mother of her ever since. Tammy's love for and devotion to her daughter, husband, and parents will forever go unrivalled. Tammy always knew she wanted to be an elementary school teacher like her Grandma Ida and Aunt Barbara. She quickly became a cherished pillar at Webb Elementary School in Franklin, retiring after 43 years in 2015. She served as a first or second grade teacher for most of her career, but stepped in to serve as the music teacher during her final three years before retirement. She came alive with music, reliving the years she spent directing plays and musicals at Custer Baker Middle School. She was an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Sisterhood and Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and regularly attended Friendship Baptist Church. Tammy had a rich life exploring the beauty of America with her husband and daughter. They traveled from the glaciers to the canyons, from cottages in the mountains to the beaches. They stepped back in time together visiting historic settlements and hiking the serene ancient woods of the Smokey Mountains and other national parks. Tammy was a giver and a blessing to her loved ones. She was a student of God and the arts. She wholeheartedly loved, fiercely advocated, and cooked delicious treats for her family and friends whenever they needed a boost. Her playful smile and bright eyes will forever be with us.
She leaves this world with countless individuals whom she loved and cared for, including her beautiful and cherished daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Green of Indianapolis, her dear father and mother, Ralph and Alta Dunlevy of Indianapolis, her sister, Melinda Dunlevy Martin, her brother-in-law, David Martin of Lebanon, her sister-in-law, Janet Anne Green Washburn, her brother-in-law, Steven Jay Washburn of Greenwood, her nieces and nephews, her cousins, many valued friends and colleagues who loved her dearly, and her faithful dog, Annie. She joins her soulmate, Jim Green, in Heaven.
