Lawrence Xavier Kennedy, affectionately known as "Larry" and "Larry Lava" was born on May 18, 1965, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was one of nine children born to the late Hubert L. Ford and the late Marlene D. Kennedy. On October 26, 2020, he suddenly departed his earthly home and made the transition from this life to his heavenly home.

Larry was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system and graduated from John A. Brashear High School. At Brashear, Larry excelled in basketball and football. He earned the nickname " The Senator," due to his athletic prowess on both the basketball court and the football field.

Larry was dependable and reliable and always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Always present, he never missed a moment as special occasion. He was always the first to arrive at family events and the last to leave. In his pastime, he loved to go fishing with his brother and most recently he enjoyed passing his love for fishing on to his grandsons.

Throughout his life, Larry proved himself to be a jack-of-all trades and was proud of his diverse employment experiences. He spent over 15 years working at the Grand Concourse, where he received many awards and recognitions, including its prestigious " Employee of the Year Award." Larry also worked at Heinz Field for over 10 years, during which time he also worked for MarketPlace Direct.

Larry eventually moved out of the Pittsburgh area, and went to work for Ted Swager at S &H Construction Company in McDonald, PA, and most recently UPS until his untimely death. While working with Mr. Ted, Larry attended St. Alphonsus Church. Larry enjoyed worshipping at St. Alphonsus Church so much that its been said, " you did not have to greet Larry on Sunday morning, because Larry was there before the greeter." Larry was also a member of the Saint Alphonsus Men's Club, where he served on the Service Committee. Additionally, Larry was a member of the National Pike Steam Gas & Horse Association, where he served as Food Service Coordinator. You name it and Larry did it.

In 2003, Larry met Jacqueline D. Green and they attended Valley View Church together. During the course of their relationship, Jackie welcomed three grandchildren. Larry's love for all three grandchildren was immediately apparent as he was present at each of their births. Larry Loved being Pap-Pap and enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Marlene, as well as three infant siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings: Debra L. Kennedy, Danette E. Evans, Gregory L. Kennedy (Rebecca), Cassandra M. Kennedy-Carter and Latrice Harper (Gregory, Sr.); loving companion, Jacqueline D. Green; grandchildren; Aaron J., Kingston C., and Ashyah M. Smith. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins and dear friends who will all miss his presence.
