Philippines President. He served as the 15th President of the Philippines from 2010 until 2016. His father Benigno Aquino a former senator and governor within the Philippine government was assassinated in 1983, his mother Corazon Aquino served as the 11th President of the Philippines from 1986 until 1992. He was educated at Ateneo de Manila University from where he received a degree in Economics and after his father relocated to the United States to receive medical treatment for heart related issues, he joined his family there following graduation. Not long after his father's assassination, he returned to the Philippines where he held occupations for his family's businesses. He began his association with the political arena when he served as a member of the House of Representatives as a representative from the 2nd District of the Tarlac Province (1998 to 2007). He served as a Senator from 2007 until 2010, prior to succeeding Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as President of the Philippines. During his tenure, his administration stabilized an unsteady economic period. In September 2010, he led a delegation to the United States and addressed the United Nations General Assembly. He was succeeded by Rodrigo Duterte in 2016. He died of complications from diabetes and renal failure.
