Carolyn Ann Thompson passed away peacefully at home on June 22, 2021, after a progressive battle with Alzheimer's. Carolyn was born on March 5, 1936, in Rusk Co Kilgore, TX to William, H. and Ollie Mae Sanders. She was a lifetime native of Texas but returned to Longview in the late 60's and has remained here since. She loved her family, friends, music, and animals. She always had a dog or two…or three. She had a real love of music from the school band where she played clarinet to the church choir. She especially enjoyed gospel and country music from the Gaithers to Patsy Cline and you would always hear her singing along.
Her hobbies were gardening and quilting and knitting and anyone who knew her probably has some of her handmade dish cloths. She loved her church where she was a member of Fellowship Baptist in Spring Hill.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her baby brother Lester Sanders and numerous Aunts.
She is survived by her daughter Christie Milam and son in law Jeff of Longview. Grandchildren Ashley Darnell, grandsons Austin and Aaron Milam. Sisters Shirley Baker of Hawkins and Linda Vandver and brother-in-law William of Cleveland, Brothers Wayne Sanders and sister-in-law Marilyn of Thornton Colorado and Robert Sanders and sister-in-law Jane of Bullard, TX. and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be Friday, June 25, at 2 pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview with a visitation on Thursday June 24 from 5-7 pm. Burial will follow in Rusk County Memorial Garden Cemetery in Henderson.
