Computer Programmer, Businessman. He was a British-American computer programmer, a businessman, and a presidential candidate in 2016 and 2020. Growing up in Salem, Virginia he attended Northside High School in Roanoke County, Virginia and a 1963 graduate. He also attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia and a 1967 graduate with a B.S. in Mathematics. He then furthered his education while attending Northeast State Louisiana State College and studying at Columbia University in New York City. From 1978 to 1970 he was employed at NASA's Institute for Space Studies as a programmer. He then was employed as a software designer at Univac and as a operations system architect at Xerox and a software consultant at Computer Science Corporation. He also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton and Lockheed. He founded McAfee Associates, a personal computer anti-virus company in 1987. He became the developer of the first commercial computer anti-virus program. He left Lockheed in 1989 to spend full-time on McAfee Associates. In 1992, McAfee Associates became a publicly held company in a $42 million stock offering. In 1994, he left McAfee Associates in 1994 selling all his remaining equity interest in the company. Prior to his death he began having legal issues including murder and the United States financial charges mounting against him. He was found dead in a Spanish prison.
