Chester "Wayne" Harper, age 78, was born on August 27, 1943 to Irvin and Lottie Harper. He passed away in his home on June 21, 2021 surrounded by family.
Wayne grew up in the Ava area and was married to Jo Johnson on August 31, 1963. He was a long time member of the Goodhope Nazarene Church and loved his church family. He enjoyed anything outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandson and loved his granddaughters dearly.
He was deeply loved and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Lottie Harper, two brothers, Wilburn Harper and Eldon Harper both of Ava, and one sister, Frieda Cole of Pierce City, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce (Jo) Harper, two sons, Chester Harper (Butch) and wife Tanya of Cabot, Arkansas, Larry and Donna Harper of Ava; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Mattea Harper, both of Charleston, South Carolina; one grandson, Colten Harper of Ava; two brothers, Billy Harper and wife Evelyn of Ava; and Don and Marty Harper of Anamosa, Iowa; two sisters, Goldie and Bruce Scott, and Joyce Harper both of Ava; and a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial services and burial in the Jenkins Cemetery will be held at a later date. Cremation Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Inc. Ava, Missouri.
