Noble Clarence Eugene "Gene" Bennett age 84, of Fairview, TN. passed away at his home Monday June 21, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He is also known to his family and friends as Foley, Poley, Bobo, Grasscutter, Daddy, grand paw and great grand paw. He was a 33rd degree Mason, receiving the tittle of Noble Clarence E. Bennett Jr.
Gene was born in Joelton, TN. to the late Clarence Edwin Bennett Sr. and Iva Mildred Abernathy. He worked as a truck driver early on and went on to work for Yellow Freight for thirty-four years (while also mowing lawns). After retiring from Yellow Freight, he went to work for Steiner Lift, then for the Williamson County Highway Department which he retired from on January 1st, 2021.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Luke Bennett and J.W. Bennett, grandson Colby, daughter-in-law Janice Ellen, five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years Geneva Bennett, son Joseph Bennett, daughter Pamela Annette (David) Jones, daughter Elizabeth Richards. Grandchildren: John, Lisa, Davy, Deanna, Anthony, Travis, Tycher, Tyler, Ryan and Ryley and twenty-six great grandchildren. Brother Frank Bennett, sisters-in-law Jan Bennett, Betty (Billy) Smith, Linda Sue (Jimmy) Cotton.
Visitation with the family will begin on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and a Masonic service will follow. Visitation Friday, June 25, 2021, 9:30 am until service time at 11:30 am. Pallbearers will be his Grandsons. All service to be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN.
