James Rush, 92, of Lorain, passed away at home Thursday, June 10, 2021. He was born in Fairmount, West Virginia June 3, 1929 and was a longtime resident of Lorain, Ohio. He retired from U.S. Steel where he worked in the maintenance department after 30 years of service.
He enjoyed fixing on bicycles, playing cards, shooting pool and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James will be sadly missed by his sons, Perry Rush of Freemont CA, Barry (Patricia) Rush of Spring Valley, IL and Gary Christopher Rush of Lorain; daughters, Deloris (Wade) Harris of Elyria, Vivian Rush of Lorain, Jennifer (Jerome) Brown of Oxford, MI, Wendy (Robert) Bruce, Gretchen (Isaac) Horton of Strongsville, OH; 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Freddie Rush of Lorain; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Vanilla (Kamilla) Rush; his daughter, Robin Rush; a grandson, Shon Rush and granddaughter, Tasha Yvonne Rush; his parents, Albert "Fat Boy" Rush Sr. and Margaret Rush (nee Lee); a sister, Sally Daniels and a brother, Albert Rush Jr.
Services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Living Word Church-South Campus, 2002 E. 28th St., Lorain. Viewing will be from 10am to 11am with service immediately following. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
