Joseph M. DeVine, 65, of Waterloo, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 18, 1986, at Covenant Medical Center, West Ninth Street, Waterloo.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1921, at Walker, Iowa, to William and Anna Ward DeVine. He married Eileen Matzke on June 14, 1947, at Vinton. He was employed at St. John's Catholic Church and school for 10 years as a custodian, and was building engineer at West Intermediate School for 15 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joanne Dennis and Diane DeVine, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Poppen of Waterloo and Arlene Merck of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Frank and William, both of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
