Thomas "Tommy" Oliver Bowen, Sr., 81, husband of Alma Greenway Bowen of Starr, S.C. died, Friday, June 18, 2021, at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C.
Born in Anderson, on November 9, 1939, he was a son of the late Harry Bowen and the late Thelma Heaton Bowen.
Tommy was retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas after 35 years' service. He was a member of the Owens-Corning Retired Men's Club and was a past-president of the club. He attended Starr Baptist Church in Starr, S.C.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Greenway Bowen, children, Patty Chitwood, Thomas O. Bowen, Jr., Joseph R. Bowen (Kelly), and Timothy L. Bowen, stepchildren, Jan Holland, Rick Greenway, Randy Greenway (Sandy), and Kathy Greenway, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, James Bowen (Carol) and his grandchildren raised in the home, Kevin Holland and Lindsey Lollis (Marshall).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Gunter Bowen, his brother, James Bowen, and his sister Harriet Wright.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 2:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Tony Howell will officiate. A private burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center on Wednesday from 12:30pm – 2:00pm.
