Christina Heer/Haer was born in Grombach in the Sinsheim district of southwest Germany. She was a daughter of Valentin Haer (b. ~1806) and Eva Frey (b. ~1802). German church records show that Christina, at age 20, gave birth to a daughter, Barbara, on December 7, 1857. The child lived 14 days.
Around 1858, Christina and her sisters, Elizabetha, Magdalena, Eva, and Catherina (Sauter) emigrated from Germany to Woolwich Township, Ontario, where some uncles (Frey) had settled earlier. Their parents remained in Germany.
The 1881 Census of Canada listed Christina Haer, age 43, living in Woolwich Township, with her sister and brother-in-law, Eva and George Hodel, and their children. She was unmarried.
Christina died from consumption (tuberculosis) in her 50th year.
