James F. Hubbard, age 91, a New Castle resident, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021. He was born December 25, 1929 in Oolitic, Indiana, a son of the late Inis and Tryhena Brenninger Hubbard.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School and he also attended college receiving an Engineering Degree. He entered the Army Air Force where he served as a pilot during WWII. He was also a prisoner of war for 6 months and was a recipient of several military awards and recognitions. Mr. Hubbard retired from Chrysler Corporation after many years of service. He served as the City Engineer for New Castle several years. He also worked for the State of Indiana in the Department of Transportation and was the Sub-District Manager at Centerville, Indiana for the State Highway Department. Mr. Hubbard also worked for U.S. State Department for the Embassy in China. Mr. Hubbard spent many years as a public servant as a soldier and worked the state and federal government. He loved family activities, racing speed boats, being a private airplane pilot and woodworking.
Left to cherish his loving memory include, two daughter, Susan Kinser of New Castle and Serena Hesse of Garden Grove, California; two grandchildren, Wendy Cochran of New Castle and Larry Kinser of McKinney, Texas; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Joyce Hubbard; a daughter, Brenda; a son, E.J. Hubbard; a son-in-law, Reverend Larry Kinser; a brother, Robert Hubbard, who was killed in action during WW II.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date with burial in Hillsboro Cemetery. Mr. Hubbard will also be honored with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army, VFW, and the American Legion.
