He was an amazing and loving father and grandfather, and a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He had a full and active life. By profession an expert carpenter, he was also the proud owner of Pike's Country Store. He loved sports of all kinds, especially the New York Yankees, Giants, and Rangers, and was an active outdoorsman in every way -- an avid deer hunter with both rifle and bow & arrow, he also enjoyed fishing, boating, cars, and playing cards, but most of all, he enjoyed large gatherings with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his stories, sense of humor, his choice of music ("the oldies"), and his compassion for others.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne. He is survived by his children, three daughters, and two sons: Kathleen Norton; Christine and Jason Hasselius; Yvonne (Evie) Pike; David and Missy Pike; and Brian and Nivin Pike. Dave especially loved his 13 grandchildren, Jonathon, Nicholas, Hannah, Luke, Madison, Johnny, Shane, Alexis, Devin, Abby, Bryan, Ryan, and Karim, and two great-grandchildren: Tegan and Skylar. Also, surviving are his three sisters and two brothers: Georgia and Alan Thayer; William and Karen Vollmer; Carol and Alex Stromski; Marlene and David Thomas; and Christopher and Donna Vollmer. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kyle Consolazio. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. We all miss him dearly and cherish his memory.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Cremation Society of South Carolina Westville Funeral located: 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
