Mrs. Carolyn Kay Thornton, age 71, of Macclenny, Florida died Sunday, June 20, in her home following an extended illness. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia. Mrs. Thornton was the owner and operator of Country Acres ALF group home for 21 years in Raiford, Florida. She was a member of the New River N.C. Methodist Church of Raiford, Florida and enjoyed reading and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her yorkie. Mrs. Thornton is preceded in death by her late husband, Jimmie Thornton, sister, Candace Hudson, and grandson, Jason Nelson. She is survived by her ex-husband, Ronnie Jackson, Sr. of Jacksonville, Florida: her son, Ronnie (Deborah) Jackson of Macclenny, Florida: her daughter, Linda (James) Alvarez of Raiford, Florida, Melissa Nelson of Statesboro, Georgia: brother, Larry Miller of Germany: sister, Jennifer Howard of Jacksonville, Florida: 6 grandchildren, Latoya, Jonathan, William, Joseph, Brooke and Jason and many great grandchildren survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Thornton will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, June 27, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, Florida with Rev. Randall Griffin and Rev. Gary Griffin officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday (One hour before services) in the Chapel.
