Former Covington Resident Was City's First Female Patrolman
Judy Wright Anderson, 81, formerly of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, June 19, 2021 at The Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

Mrs. Anderson was born April 6, 1940 in Covington, a daughter of the late Robert Earl and Nanny Austin Wright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lenwood Anderson in 2016; two infant children, Rhonda and Craig Anderson, and two sisters, Virginia "Boots" Wright and Ester Prince.

She was the first lady patrolman for the city of Covington.

She was a member of the former Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to working for the city, she worked at the former Brown's Music Store and was a homemaker. She loved her pets and feeding the wildlife around her home.

In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated.

Surviving are her daughter, Alicia Baber and husband, Robert; a granddaughter, Arlana West; two grandsons, Josh Miller and Matthew Stuple; three great granddaughters, Autumn West, Madeline West, Elliot Herstine; a great grandson, Charlie Markley, all of Covington; a sister, Violet Boug of Jacksonville, FL, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday June 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
