Ruth was born April 12, 1931, in Harnett County, daughter of the late J. Eston Lee, and Pauline Norris Lee and was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earl C. West, 2 sisters, Grace Norris, and Hazelene Strickland, and a son-in-law, Freddie Davis.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and above all, a Godly woman who served as pastor's wife alongside her loving husband for approximately 66 years. She was a devoted member of The Church of God in Erwin. Before becoming disabled, she loved working to raise funds for missions and cooking for her church camping ministry. Her favorite pastimes were cooking and canning for her family and friends. She loved her flowers and gardening. In her earlier years, she was an excellent seamstress and a successful Tupperware manager. She was a virtuous woman, "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, he praiseth her. . . Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:28, 31. She will be missed but never forgotten.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Brenda Smith and husband, Larry of Raleigh, Pamela Davis of Princeton, Sherry Betancourt and husband, Andy of Garner; son, Ronnie West and wife Barbara of Easley, South Carolina; sisters, Doris Johnson and Carolyn Wood, and sister-in-law, Jackie Bass; Grandchildren, Sheila Smith (Chuck Smith), Todd Smith, Lance Davis and wife, Jessica, Hunter Davis, Rachel Loftus and husband, Brandon, Carrie Ingram, and husband, Victor, Alexis Betancourt, Jake Betancourt, and Dylan Betancourt; Great grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Brandon Smith, Ava Davis, Kyndall Davis, Savannah Loftus, Rebecca Loftus, John Loftus, Isabelle Ingram, and Abigail Ingram.
The family will receive visitors from 1 -2 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn, NC.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, June 18, 2021 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Lovie Lambert and Rev. Deborah Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Lee's Chapel Williford Cemetery.
