Thomas Tycer Simpson passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, in Jackson, Louisiana, at the age of 99. He was born on Wednesday, January 11, 1922 in Covington, Louisiana to the late Josephine Bollinger and the late Tycer Simpson. He was a resident of Loranger, Louisiana.
Thomas served in the CCC Camp in Kentwood, Louisiana. Thomas served in the U. S. Merchant Marines during the entirety of World War II, from 1941 until 1945. He was a radio officer, and he served in every theater. Thomas was also reactivated during the Korean War. He was the chaplain of American Legion Post 225, as well as a Freemason and a member of the United Methodist Church of Loranger.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Betty Dupueis Simpson; children, Gilbert Simpson (Joy), Paul Simpson (Elaine), Angela Byrd (Jimmy), Linda Barnett (Charles), and Patty Champlin (Clifford); grandchildren, Benjamin Simpson, Bethany Reisch, Aaron Simpson, Samuel Simpson, Adam Simpson, Phillip Simpson, Claire McFarland, Tycer McFarland, Gia Whittington, Christopher Champlin, and Jeremy Champlin; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tycer and Josephine Simpson; adoptive parents, Richard and Catherine Simpson; and son, Peter Dupueis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, June 26, 2021 beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Loranger Community Cemetery, Loranger, Louisiana.
