Passed away Thursday, June 17 at home. Thomas was born November 4, 1935, on his family farm in Mattawan, MI. He was the youngest of 11 children born to Charles & Bessie Welch. Many would describe Thomas as a jack of all trades. Throughout his life he was good at many things. Something that stands out would be that he was a gamebird breeder. Thomas was an avid trap and skeet shooter but just loved to be outside or watch the wildlife from his window. He and his wife loved to go square dancing and to travel in general. He never lost his sense of humor. Thomas was also the VP of the tractor and engine club for 12 years.
Thomas is survived by his children, Timothy Welch, Karen (Ron) Pizarek, and Cheryl Warren; his wife, Klazina and her children, Steve (Shelly) Johnston, Denise (Brad) Hessler, and Bruce (Shelley) Johnston; his sister, Joyce (Don)Davis (Bill) Fisk; 12 grandchildren, and 3+ great-grandchildren. Those preceding Tom in passing are his parents; siblings, Lorraine (Richard) Ludwig, Edith (Milo) Gidings (Arnold) Youngberg, Evelyn (David) Noyes, Charles (Frances) Welch, Kenneth (Dorothy) Welch, June (Gil) Lonsway, Ilah (Paul) Hamilton, Iva (Ted) Zimmerman, and Bobby Welch.
A Visitation will be held in Thomas's honor on Wednesday, June 23 from 1pm to 2pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The Funeral Service will follow at 2pm with Interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
