Norma Jean Dye was born November 6, 1928, in Kansas City, KS, to Gertrude Ashby Dye and Bernice Silver Dye. Her birthday coincided with the Presidential election of Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States. She grew up in Kansas City, but moved to Denver, CO, after high school. There, she met James I. Hill of Orange, TX, who was undergoing military training at nearby Lowry Field. They married in James' hometown of Orange, TX, in 1947. They had six children--James Micheal, Brice Douglas, Melinda Jean, Susan Renee, William Patrick and Wade Lee. Norma was a long time resident of Alexandria, LA, Dry Prong, LA and Alexandria, VA. She lived in a retirement community in San Antonio, TX. from 2010 until her death in 2020. In addition to her six children, Norma is survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James, her parents and her half-brother, Jimmie Campbell, who died in infancy.
