Our beloved Roy Sanders was born in Greenville, MS, on January 27, 1952. He was the fifth child of his siblings. He was born to the late Annias and Mary Sanders.
Roy relocated to Chicago, IL, where he started his career as a mechanic. He absolutely loved to work on cars and would often lend a helping hand to family and his dear friends.
Roy accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Maypole Church of Christ, under the leadership of Brother Gerald Walker.
Roy departed this life on Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annias and Mary Sanders; grandparents, Reverend David and Carrie McCuller; daughter, Joyce Nelson; granddaughter, Kate Nelson; sister, Ethan Ree Sanders; and brother, Johnny Sanders.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories: his life partner, Minnie Nelson; daughters, Angela (Michael) Ruiz, Tamara (Jamen) Clay, and Tameka Galden; sons, Roy (Tameka) McDavis, Junior Nelson, and Princeton Brooker; eight grandsons, Akeem Woods, Emmanuel McDavis, Sean Bandoo, Orlando Bandoo, Maurice Baker, Jeremiah Clay, Jaden Clay, and David Nelson; two granddaughters; four sisters, Gloria Contrella Williams, Bessie Lenardo, Carrie Sanders, and Patricia Sanders; eight brothers, Lou (Priscilla) Sanders, Willie (LaToya) Sanders, Jimmy Sanders, Lonnie (Mattie) Sanders, Tommy (Penny) Sanders, Terry (Marie) Sanders, Henry (Shantoya) Sanders, and Frankie Sanders; and a host of great- grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
