DOUGLAS DEAN OWEN, 81, of Lapeer, died Saturday June 5, 2021. He was born February 24, 1940 in Koylton Twp., MI to parents, Earl and Bernice (Fuester) Owen. Doug married Betty Lou Burgess on March 19, 1977 in Mayville.
Mr. Owen held many jobs with General Motors, primarily on the line at Fisher Body, he retired after 38-1/2 years. He and Mrs. Owen attended New Life in Christ Lutheran Church for many years. Doug enjoyed many past times; from fishing and hunting to snowmobiling. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Doug is survived by his children, Deborah (Tom) Fincher of TN, Donna Sierakowski of Lapeer and Donnie (Karen) Whittkopf of Metamora; grandchildren, Jason (& Brooke), Natalie, Seth, Max, Megan (& Dan), Shelly, Tina (& Curt), Tammi (& Matt) and Donald, Jr.; several great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; beloved son, Douglas Owen, granddaughter, Sarina; siblings, Della Wilkinson, Grace Meyer, Doris Mahaffy, Shirley Miller, and Duane Owen as well as his aforementioned parents.
Visitation for Mr. Owen was 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. His funeral was 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Muirs, officiated by Pastor Joe Schierlinger. Covid restrictions have eased; however, those not vaccinated are asked to mask at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.
