Phyllis Jean Booth Adams, 92, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in Oklahoma City, OK, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Phyllis was born on December 20, 1929 in LeFlore, OK, to Dr. G.R. and Margaret Booth. Her younger years were spent in LeFlore. She attended school there until moving to Wilburton her freshmen year of High School. While attending school at Wilburton High School, she met and began her lifelong romance with Charles Adams. Phyllis graduated in 1948.

Phyllis and Charles married on November 5, 1948. After attending Eastern Oklahoma State College and East Central University, Phyllis received her degree in education. She worked as a teacher for many years at various schools including, Gertie, Lutie, and Panola. She later changed careers and retired from the Department of Human Services, where she had served as a social worker for several years.

Phyllis had 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren who all claim to be her favorite. She was known to be a good cook. She was famous in the family for her gravy, dressing, and various desserts. She had to fix each person's favorite at every holiday get together. She is known in the family for always having advice to give.

In retirement years, Phyllis and Charles were always seen together attending Wilburton High School sporting events, Lion's Club meetings, and Senior Citizen's lunches. She did not like to sit around the house. She was always ready to go.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, five older siblings, and her husband of 69 years, Charles. Also preceding her in death was her son-in-law, Randy Helms, and grandson Adam Helms. She is survived by her three daughters: Charlette Adams Helms, Toni Adams Reding and husband Curt, Cindy Adams Smith and husband Michael. Her grandchildren are: Courtney Helms Walker and husband Jeremy, Kirsten Reding, Lindsay Reding Austin and husband Blake, Kelsey Reding Martin and husband Michael, Elizabeth Smith, and Aaron Smith. Bringing much joy to her life are her great grandchildren. They are Reagan Amason, Craig Walker, Courtland Walker, Mackenzie Wickstrom Helms, Hunter Helms, Colten Helms, Cameron Austin, Cayson Austin, Logan Martin, and Laine Martin.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 09, 2022 at Waldrop Funeral Home Chapel.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Wilburton with Rev. Randy Waldrop officiating. The burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wilburton.
