Richard was born to Percy Eugene Carpenter & Arline Barbara Garcia in Los Angeles, CA. Percy was a career criminal & was never an active presence in Richard's life. Being in & out of prison for many years. Richard was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at age 8 and spent much time at Children's Hospital in LA, learning how to care for himself as his parents were unwilling to learn. At 13 his Mom and Step-Dad Patrick Britt moved the family to Shasta County to be near his Grandmother, Charlotte Garcia-Johnson. Gram proved to be Richard's major caretaker & mentor. As his life was completely dysfunctional. A child of abuse and neglect, Richard turned to what he knew, drugs, abuse and alcohol. In 1976, he was in a hit & run accident that rendered him permanently disabled. He met Paula Diane Cameron in 1977 and they married 1/20/1978. Paula already had a son, Sean Richard Cameron, in May, 1978 they had a son, Justin Robert, followed in Nov 1980 by daughter Erin Corinne.

Richard tried to be a good dad, but, being a victim of his upbringing, it was an uphill battle & he spent many years battling his demons.

As he got older, he mellowed out and stopped his drug use & excessive drinking. He became an excellent Papa to the Grandkids.
Richard was diagnosed with COPD in 1996.

Richard passed in his at-home hospital bed on 10 April, 2021. Leaving behind Paula, his kids, 14 Grandkids and 4 Great-Grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his Grandmother, Mother, Father and Sister (Chris Lynn Carpenter-Martinez)

Cremation was through Trinity Alps Funeral Home in Weaverville, CA
