A Bardstown resident, Mrs. June Thompson Hutchins, age 85, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving children and caregiver. She was born October 13, 1935 in Holy Cross to the late James Bernard and Catherine Blandford Thompson. She was a graduate of St. Francis High School and attended Brescia College. June worked alongside her husband of 53 years on their family farm where she lovingly raised 5 children. She was faithfully committed to serving St. Thomas, St. Mark and St. Joseph Parishes. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the bereavement committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Roy "Sonny" Hutchins, a grandson, John Kyle Hutchins, a sister, Doris Johnson and a brother, Allan "Dink" Thompson. She is survived by her children, Frank (Christine) Hutchins of Louisville, John (Cindy) Hutchins, Catherine (Keene) Clements, Connie (Pat) McDowell, Laura (Phil) Blair, all of Bardstown, 13 grandchildren, Patrick (Sarah) Clements, Benjamin (Michelle) Clements, Twyman Clements, Alex (Megan) Clements, Anna Hutchins, Kris (Peyton) Hutchins, Erica Hutchins, Cole McDowell, Seth McDowell, Lillie McDowell, Ethan Blair, Will Blair, Ella Blair, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 siblings, Jimmy Thompson of Fern Creek, Connie (Tony) Schickel, Mary (Bert) Spalding, Lynne (Phil) Bowling, all of Bardstown, a long time special member of the family, Mark (Jackie) Wimpsett, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to her devoted caregivers, Donna Graves Mattingly, Cathy Graves Hutchins and Debbie Mattingly.
A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. June Thompson Hutchins will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. Fr. Terry Bradshaw, celebrant.Fr. Bill Hammer and Deacon Steve Heil will concelebrate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 pm at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. A prayer service will be Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Additional visitation will be Wednesday after 9:00 am until 10:15 am. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Bethlehem High School or St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
