George Michael "Mickey" Fischer, Jr., age 91, of Warfordsburg, Pa., entered into eternal rest with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Fulton County Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born January 26, 1930, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late George M. Fischer, Sr. and Nora E. (Garland) Fischer. He was married to the love of his life, Betty (Ward) Fischer. They celebrated 71 years of marriage on March 11, 2021.
He was a member of Whips Cove Church, in Warfordsburg.
He was a hardworking dairy farmer for all of his adult life, even from his front porch in his later years. He was employed by PENNDOT for thirteen years; and was a supervisor for Brush Creek Township for over thirty years.
He was a member of the James W. Bowers Lodge #173 in Hancock, Md.; and the Harrisburg Consistory. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three sons, Gary L. Fischer and his wife, Barbara, Roger L. Fischer and his wife, Theresa, and Larry E. Fischer, all of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two daughters, Diane E. Whiteside and her husband, Mike, of Warfordsburg, and Karen M. Brennan and her husband, Garry, of Chambersburg, Pa.; fourteen grandchildren, Bobby, Mark, Lisa, Jennifer, David, Christie Lee, Jason, Justin, Amy, Bradley, Brian, Shonda, Matthew, and Amber; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul T. Fischer and his wife, Ivadene, of Everett, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 21, 2021, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg, Pa., and one hour prior to the funeral service. A Masonic service will be conducted by J.W. Bowers Lodge #173 on Monday at 5:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Whips Cove Church. Pastor Jean Squires will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
