OBITUARY: Louis Joseph "Joe" Thompson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, in his home in Gilbert, Arizona, surrounded by his family.

Joe was the only son of the late Quentin Thompson and Mae Thompson, née Isabella. He was born on January 24, 1941, in Spooner, Wisconsin. He graduated from Spooner High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After graduation, he worked for the 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, for 38 years until his retirement in 2003.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Nancy Carroll Thompson, née Stone.

Dedicated brother and brother-in-law to Helen & John Curtis, Margaret & Wayne Arnston, Mary & Tim Gray, and Mary Walkowick.

Loving father and father-in-law to Mike & Vivian Thompson, Jeff & Vicki Thompson, Jenny and Brent Budke, and Julie Thompson.

Proud grandfather to Ashley, Jenna, Chris, Ryan, Brandon, Kailie, Trevor, Trent, Micah, Cameron, Asia, Alex, Jake, and Casey. Great-grandfather to Kylie, Cadence, Baileigh, Jameson, Caleb, Elijah, and Sophie.

Joe will be missed by his friends and his large extended family.

Memorial services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Woodbury, Minnesota on July 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.

No funeral or burial services will follow. Joe's ashes will be buried at his beloved cabin by the lake.
