Newark, DE - Daniel L. Russell, age 81 of Newark, DE, Dan passed away on February 6, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, VA surrounded by his children.

Dan was a 1955 graduate of Salesianum Catholic High School and was a pitcher on their baseball team. He retired in 1996 as the Chief Review Appraiser after 40 years with the State of Delaware Department of Transportation. He served in the Army as a Radar Operator during the 1950s, and loved fishing and his time coaching Little League and CYO baseball.

Dan was predeceased by his wife Carolyn B. (Ventresca), father, Daniel T. and mother, Lucy (Tomczak). He is survived by his daughter, Karen Russell DeMarino; his son Daniel Russell, Jr. and his wife Yvonne and son Garrett Russell and his wife Donna; 8 grandchildren, Daniel, Nathan, Kelly, Adreanna, Rachel, John, Luke and Jake. His brother John and wife Geri and his brother Jim and his wife Karen, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.

Visitation with Dan's family will be held on Monday February 11th from 6-8 pm, in the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday February 12th at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Rd., Newark, DE 19713. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
