Mason, Regina Marie "Jean"
83, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother returned home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Jean's entire life was a witness to her deep faith in God. She was remarkably beautiful in her love and caring ways. All who were blessed to have known her were touched by her amazing strength and selflessness. Her entire life was doing good for others. Mom, you are now in the arms of God and Dad, and we rejoice with you in that knowledge. An Arizona native who grew up in Flagstaff, Jean was the daughter of Dr. Albert and Pearl Schermann. She graduated from ASU with a degree in education. While in school she met the love of her life, A.C. Mason, and together they raised five children in the Peaceful Valley area of Scottsdale, next to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. This fact was not a coincidence as OLPH was a central part of her life for over fifty years. She was able to walk out the back gate to Mass almost daily until the very end of her life. Over the years, Jean taught religious education, volunteered for Meals On Wheels, worked with the OLPH Conference of St. Vincent de Paul and the Ministry of Care. Jean Mason is survived by her five children; Meg (Steve) Bushard, David (Diana) Mason, Richard (Kathy) Mason, Steve Mason and Mark (Tammera) Mason; her sister, Mary Carolyn Mackey; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Mason in 1984, two brothers, Albert and Tom Schermann and a sister, Marjorie Fleming. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Sunday, January 18th at Messinger Mortuary Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale with a Rosary being recited at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 19th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7655 E. Main Street, Scottsdale. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery, Phoenix. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's memory to St. Vincent de Paul.
