Barbara was born on October 2, 1945, in Hominy, Oklahoma the daughter of Elmer and Beulah (Stephens) Pitts. Barbara was raised and received her education in Hominy where she graduated with the Class of 1963. After graduation Barbara was united in marriage to Thomas Dewey Cox on October 10, 1964, in Prue, Oklahoma. Following their marriage Barbara and Dewey moved to the ranch northwest of Hominy. In 1988, they built their current home west of Hominy where she has continued to reside.
Barbara enjoyed the simple things in life. Sitting on the front porch watching the hummingbirds and watching the cattle graze in the pasture. She loved going to Branson with her family taking in the sights and going out to eat. She was kind and loving to all...children held a special place in her heart. She loved praise music and enjoyed going to church at Wynona Assembly of God where she was a longtime member.
Survivors are her husband Dewey of the home; two children Gary and Vickie Cox of Hominy, Oklahoma and Chris Cox of Hominy; four siblings Shirley Cox of Moore, Oklahoma, Kenny and JoAnn Pitts of Hominy, Paula and Bob Lindblom of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Steve and Mary Pitts of Hominy; two step granddaughters Jessica and Ricky Kriege of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Kellie and John Spicer of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two step great grandchildren Holden Kriege and Rubie Spicer and a host of other relatives and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Beulah Pitts, and a brother Jimmie Dale Pitts
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Wynona Assembly of God Church with Pastor Travis Barbee and Rev. David Downing officiating services. Burial will be held in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery at Hominy, Oklahoma.
