Ethel Mathews Coulter, 76, of Vinton, passed away on June 16, 2021. She was born on December 26, 1944 in Vinton, Louisiana. Ethel was a lifelong resident of Vinton, growing up on the family's rice farm. She was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board in 2004 where she worked at Vinton Elementary.
She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, getting pedicures, watching movies, listening to music, attending Mass, and going out for dinner. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother and spent many years caring for her own mom with the most attentive and gentle care.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Millette DeVille (Sammy) of Alvin, Texas, Roxanna Maciel (Mike) of Sugar Land, Texas, Shannon Patin (Troy) of Sulphur, Louisiana; grandchildren, McKenzie Deville (Pamela), Laken Patin, Michael Maciel (Judi), Caitlen Johnson (Devin), Ally Maciel (Corey Nobilo), Colben Patin, Mason Deville and Marc Maciel; sister, Bonnie Hudson (Bill); brother, Harold Mathews; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 45 years, Cleo Coulter Jr; her parents, Sarazon Paul Mathews and Zula Marie (Kinney) Mathews; siblings, Kenneth Mathews, Calvin Mathews, Charles Mathews, and Woodrow Mathews.
A Visitation and Rosary will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton on Saturday, June 19, 2021 beginning at 9:00 am with a Rosary beginning at 10:00 a.m. and Eulogy beginning at 11:00 am.
A Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Ethel will be entombed privately in a cremation niche at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss, Louisiana where she will be rejoined once more with our father, Cleo Coulter Jr.
