Cheryl Lynn Hunt was born on April 25, 1951, to William Lawrence and Lucille Hunt in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended school up until the 8th grade, but then took care of her siblings at home. She tried periodically to go back as much as she could.

Cheryl met David Richard Brooks and they married. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Marjorie Brooks, Michelle Brooks, Karl Brooks, and Amanda Saidian. Cheryl was a homemaker.

Cheryl was very loving and always had a smile on her face. She had the biggest heart and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She enjoyed going on picnics, watching movies, and enjoying the adventures she would have with her grandkids. She especially loved seeing random, made-up songs to the girls such as "Let's go strolling down Park Avenue," and she would list all the kids and grandkids names.

Some of her favorite foods were soft pretzels and cheese, Folgers coffee, and Pepsi. The color red was definitely her favorite, from a red Corvette to red roses. It was pretty common catching Cheryl singing a couple of her favorite songs, "Hey, Good Lookin'" and "Sherry Baby." Although Cheryl was a sweetheart, she had a bit of an ornery side to her toward the end.

Cheryl will be missed by her children: Marjorie Brooks, Michelle Brooks, Karl Brooks, and Amanda (Farris) Saindon; grandchildren: Raelean, Dorothy, Paul, Brianne, Zoey, Gabriel, and Alex; great-grandchildren: Leah plus another on the way; and siblings: Debbie (Mark) Lawson, Patty (Kevin) Shue, Leslie (Brian) Seals, Kevin (Amy) Lawrence, Mike (Debbie) Lawrence, Jeff Penland, and Scott Penland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucille and Benjamin Penland; brother Billy; sister Pamela; and husband David in 2011.
