Barbara Ann Mitchell Hodges, 84, passed away June 12, 2021. After a long battle with complications associated with Alzheimer's Dementia, she was called home to her Heavenly Father.

Barbara was born in Chatham, VA to the late Edgar Raymond Mitchell and Madie Belle Barber Mitchell. She was a devoted wife of 56 years to Rev. Wayne Hodges and loving mother of seven children.

She retired from Guilford County Schools and won several state awards for baking through the years. She loved working with children and contributed to help the youth at Hester's Daycare. Barbara was a devout Christian, sharing her love for the Lord through music, playing piano, and singing hymns in church. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Most importantly, she loved life. She never gave up and fought hard until the very end. Everyone will always remember her smile and laughter.

She was preceded in death by husband, Wayne Lewis Hodges, son, Wayne Hodges Jr., daughters; Shirley Faye Segrave and Linda Hodges, and grandson, Keith McClintock.

Survivors are grandson, Travis Hodges and Mari Alvarez of the home; daughters, Susan Lambly and husband Barry, Jane Page, Cathy Griffin and husband, Jackie, and Ruth Sumner and husband Marty. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Friday, June 18th at 10am at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Greensboro, officiated by Rev. Andy Garner. Visitation for family and friends begins at 9am. Graveside services will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
