Lonnie Banks was born on January 27, 1931 to the late John Banks (1892-1942) and Sallie Stewart Banks (1900-1962) in Uniontown, Perry County, Alabama.

He departed this life on June 9, 2021 in his home surrounded by family.

He attended Fairfield City and Escambia County Schools.

He confessed his life to Christ at an early age while attending First Baptist Church in Uniontown, Alabama.

Later he moved to Birmingham, Alabama and joined 17th Street A.O.H. Church of God under the leadership of the late Bishop Jasper Roby. He was a faithful member and Deacon until his health declined under the leadership of Bishop Phillip Wright at Cathedral of the Cross A.O.H Church of God.

He retired from A & B Foundry (formerly Birmingham Stove and Range). He also had employment with Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Wackenhut Security, UAB Hospital, and Positive Maturity Shepherd Center East Development Center.

He married his late wife, Lue Deal Moore Banks, November 3, 1956 (1940-2020).

To this union four children were born. Two daughters Ethel Ree Voltz and Bertha Lee Banks preceded him in death.

He was the youngest of eight siblings: Frank Banks, Laura House, Eddie Banks, Rosa Mae Hawkins, Johnnie Banks House , John Banks Jr, Dave Banks, and Stella Mae Rhone who all preceded him in death.

His loving memories will be cherished by his son Lonnie Banks Jr. and daughter Juanita Banks Green. Seven grandchildren: Vonnetta Banks Wesley, Charles Banks (Marcia), Darryl Voltz (Latoya), Toni Green Barrett, Nathan Voltz (Kriss), Natasha Voltz, and Jakeisha Green Miles (Morris), twenty great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Brother-in-laws George Moore (Roberta), John Moore and Edward Wimes. Sister-in-laws Rosa Lee House, Mozella Green, Bertha Noland, Ruby Wimes (Cornelius) and Juanita Akinleye (Johnson). Godson Clarence Banks (Elnora). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
